2019 World Barista Championship rules and regulations released
World Coffee Events (WCE) has released its updated rules and regulations for the 2019 World Barista Championship (WBC) and World Brewers Cup (WBrC).
The competitions will take place from 10 to 14 April at the Specialty Coffee Expo in Boston, United States. Due to the rapidly approaching date of the expo, WCE says the rules and regulations will be the same as the 2018 rules, with some very minor logistical clarifications.

Yama Kim of Kingswood Coffee in Sydney has won the 2018 World Cup Tasters Championship at the World Coffee Championships, held in Brazil from 7 to 9 November.
In the final round of the competition, Yama correctly identified seven out of eight different coffees in four minutes and 38 seconds.

Ziggy Varamulia of Max and Sons in Perth has won the Australian Specialty Coffee Association (ASCA) 2019 Western Region Barista Championship.
Rhys Woods of Lo. Ki in Adelaide placed second, and Rummy Keshet of Offshoot Coffee in Perth placed third.
The competition was held at the Double Shot Coffee Fiesta in Unley, South Australia from 3 to 4 November.

Ona Coffee performs hat trick at 2019 Central Region Barista Championship
Angus Mackie of Ona Coffee has won the Australian Specialty Coffee Association (ASCA) 2019 Central Region Barista Championship for the second year in a row.
Representatives from Ona Coffee rounded out the top three positions, with two-time Australian Barista Champion Hugh Kelly placing second, and Joao Carlos Henriques placing third.
The competition was held at Specialty Coffee Curators in Marrickville, New South Wales from 27 to 28 October.

Australian Brewers Cup Champion Heath Dalziel prepares for World Championship
Australian Specialty Coffee Association (ASCA) Australian Brewers Cup Champion Heath Dalziel is preparing for the 2018 World Brewers Cup, to be held in Brazil from 7 to 9 November.
Heath, of Third Time Lucky, won the National Brewers Cup title in March at the Melbourne International Coffee Expo.
He is currently in Canberra, training with 2017 World Brewers Cup runner-up Sam Corra. He has also worked with 2014 Australian Brewers Cup Champion Devin Loong, and 2015 World Barista Champion and Ona Coffee Founder Sasa Sestic.
