Geisha reigns at 2020 Guatemala Cup of Excellence

Cercol’s El Socorro farm has won the 2020 Guatemala Cup of Excellence (COE) with a 91.06 scoring washed Geisha coffee. It was the competition’s only coffee to earn a Presidential Award and marks the third time Cercol placed first in the Guatemala COE.

First Cup of Excellence Ethiopia awards three coffees 90 plus

Niguse Gemeda Mude has won the first Cup of Excellence (COE) Ethiopia with his Sidama sun-dried natural coffee, which scored 91.04 in the competition. This was one of three coffees to score more than 90 points in the competition, each receiving the Presidential Award. Rumudamo Coffee Industry Trade scored 90.89 and RumuDamo scored 90.25 with 74110 varietal washed coffees, both from Sidamo.

Cup of Excellence pilot begins in Indonesia

The Alliance for Coffee Excellence (ACE) has commenced a preliminary Cup of Excellence (COE) trial in the town of Takengon in Aceh, Indonesia. In partnership with the Speciality Coffee Association of Indonesia (SCAI) and the local government of Aceh Tenga, ACE has received entries from more than 40 farmers for pre-selection.

Minas Hill to bring COE winner Ismael Andrade to MICE

Minas Hill Coffee has confirmed that Cup of Excellence (COE) Brazil Natural 2018 winner, and long-time partner of the Brazilian coffee importer, Ismael Andrade will attend the Melbourne International Coffee Expo (MICE) 2019. Ismael’s COE winning coffee scored 93.26 at the internationally juried coffee competition. Another of his lots, using the Yellow Icatu varietal, won best coffee from the Cerrado Region of Brazil, a protected designation of origin.
