Host Milano and Poli.Design have awarded 56 companies under three categories with the 2019 Smart Label 2019. Smart Label recognises innovative content, products that change the directions of conventional trends, and those which stand out for their eco-sustainability. Juror Shujoy Chakraborty commented on the strong presence of the coffee industry in the awards.

Iberital, a Barcelona-based espresso machine manufacturer, launches Iberital Vision in the Australian market, an ambitious product of the company’s pursuit to define the next generation of coffee machines: efficient, eco-friendly, and connected equipment. Behind its state-of-the-art, synthetic, rational, and Brutalist-influenced design, Vision hides outstanding technical features. Among the most remarkable, the Vision’s multi-boiler system has separate boilers for steam, each group head, and an additional independent water system. The machine comes with a provided tablet that includes a modern and intuitive app, which enables the barista to accurately control temperature, amount of water used in every delivery, and to manage all technical settings.

Seven Miles Coffee Roasters digs deep

For the past 50 years, Seven Miles’ Coffee has shared its roasting expertise with hundreds of Australian cafés and thousands of coffee consumers. Within that time, the popular roaster has undergone a name change (formerly Belaroma Coffee), rebranding, a refurbishment of its Manly Vale headquarters in New South Wales, and become a Specialty Coffee Association (SCA) certified barista training campus. But with an increasing thirst for knowledge, Seven Miles Coffee Roasters decided to launch a science and education centre to push the boundaries of coffee experimentation. Leading its Coffee Science and Education Centre (CSEC) is Dr Adam Carr, a chemical engineer who has forged a research career over the past eight years, working at Cornell University, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and Aerodyne Research.
