Restaurant & Catering Australia (R&CA), in partnership with Entertainment and several high-profile food industry personalities, has issued a call to action campaign for all Australians to unite and support their local cafés, restaurants, eateries, and artisan food producers that have been greatly affected by COVID-19 restrictions. The campaign, driven by the hashtag #EatAloneTogether, calls on all Australians to continue to order takeaway or delivery meals from their favourite local eateries.

Hospitality apprenticeship program receives $1.1 million grant from Vic Govt

Restaurant & Catering Australia (R&CA) has received a $1.1 million grant from the Victorian Government to fund a new hospitality apprenticeship program. R&CA CEO Juliana Payne says the project, titled Workforce Training Innovation Fund: Building New Quality Hospitality Apprentice Pathways in Victoria, will help to significantly improve current uptake of apprenticeships in Victoria’s burgeoning hospitality industry.

Report finds one in three small business owners fear insolvency

American Express’s annual Economy of Shopping Small report has found that a third of small business operators fear they risk becoming insolvent in the next three to five years. The report is based on in-depth interviews with 10 small business owners, and 20-minute surveys with 864 small businesses and a nationally representative group of 1019 consumers. Only 38 per cent of small business owners say revenue has increased during the past 12 months. This was a decline from the 43 per cent that reported growth last year.
