Roasters urged to join CaféSmart 2019

The coffee community is set to reunite once again with StreetSmart Australia’s annual CafeSmart campaign to help combat homelessness, to begin on 9 August 2019. Participating cafés donate $1 from every coffee sold, directly supporting smaller grassroots homeless charities. StreetSmart has put out a call for roasters to take part in the campaign. Coffee Roaster partners can support their wholesale customers to take part in CafeSmart, and decide how and to what level, such as donating beans and cups.

Drink coffee, do good on 3 August for CaféSmart

On 3 August, the coffee community will unite to support CaféSmart 2018 and help fight homelessness. More than 600 cafes have registered to participate in CaféSmart 2018 next week, with $1 from every coffee sold at participating cafés directed to support grassroots homeless charities. Last year CaféSmart raised $285,500, including matched funding from partner philanthropists, and supported 156 homelessness projects across Australia. This year, CaféSmart is aiming to beat that total and raise $300,000 for critically underfunded services.

BioPak partners with Open Canvas to break stigma around homelessness

BioPak has partnered with Melbourne-based social enterprise Open Canvas to launch a new compostable coffee cups range. The BioCup Art Series will feature artwork on its cups from Australian artists facing homelessness in an effort to combat the stigma surrounding homelessness. Open Canvas Founder Dan Rath says the artwork featured on the cups depicts the beauty of nature and the environment.
