Lavazza begins the reign of ¡Tierra!

Lavazza’s locally roasted ¡Tierra! Brazil and Colombia blends represent the roaster’s commitment to sustainability at origin. When Marco Lavazza, Vice Chairman of the Lavazza Group, touched down in Melbourne in January for the 2019 Australian Open, it was not just to celebrate Lavazza’s third year of partnering with the tennis grand slam. The roaster had decided that the competition was the perfect platform to launch a first for the company: coffee roasted outside of Italy.

Lavazza to host sustainability conference and showcase ¡Tierra! at World of Coffee

On 7 June, Lavazza Chief Sustainability Officer Mario Cerutti will lead a conference focusing on the Italian roaster’s approach to sustainability with a deep dive on two out of the 24 ¡Tierra! projects, managed by Lavazza Foundation. “¡Tierra! is synonymous with projects focused on the improvement and development of coffee farming communities from an economic, social and environmental point of view, as well as a range of premium blends, containing coffee from communities involved in the sustainability projects and grown in Rainforest Alliance certified coffee farms,” Mario says.

Lavazza to launch three new blends at Australian Open

Lavazza has announced it will launch three new locally roasted coffee blends at the Australian Open 2019 tennis tournament, taking place from 14 to 27 January 2019. “We are proud to be present for the fourth year running at the Australian Open, where we will be officially launching three new products destined for the food service channel,” says Silvio Zaccareo, Asia-Pacific Business Unit Director and Australia Managing Director of Lavazza.

Lavazza chooses Australia for new product launch

Due to a growing demand for organic coffee, the Lavazza Group has selected Australia to be the first market in the world to launch its new Tierra bio-organic beans, a new product for the Tierra brand. Nielsen data reveals Australians are the highest consumers of organic coffee in terms of value share in the world, sitting at 12.8 per cent. Denmark comes close second at 11.6 per cent, Canada at 11 per cent, with the US trailing at 2.3 per cent.
