World of Coffee crowns new coffee champions

The World of Coffee trade show in Berlin, Germany saw new World Latte Art (WLAC), Coffee in Good Spirits (WCIGS), Cup Tasters, and Cezve/Ibrik Champions crowned on 8 June. Manuela Fensore of Barlady Café Academy in Italy won the 2019 WLAC. Hao-Yuan Chen of Taiwan placed second and Liu Guoqiang of Sanshierli Academy in China placed third.

NZSCA cancels New Zealand Coffee in Good Spirits Championship

The New Zealand Specialty Coffee Association (NZSCA) has had to cancel its inaugural Coffee in Good Spirits Championship after not reaching the minimum number or applicants needed to run the competition. The NZSCA says World Coffee Events requires there be a minimum number of participants to run a nationally sanctioned event. The 2019 New Zealand Cup Tasters and Latte Art Championships will still be held as scheduled.

World Barista Championship preliminary schedule

World Coffee Events confirms WBC and WBrC preliminary schedule

World Coffee Events has released the schedules of the preliminary rounds of the the 2019 World Barista Championship (WBC) and World Brewers Cup (WBrC). The first round of the WBC will take place from 11 to 12 April, the the WBrC open service and compulsory rounds occurring on 12 and 13 April. Matthew Lewin of Ona Coffee will represent Australia in the WBC, his performance beginning at 11:40am Eastern Daylight Time (EDT) on 11 April, or 1:40am Sydney and Melbourne time on 12 April.

World Coffee Roasting Championship 2019 heads to Taiwan

World Coffee Events (WCE) confirmed that the World Coffee Roasting Championship (WCRC) will take place in Taipei from 15 to 18 November at the 2019 Taiwan International Coffee Show (TICS). More than 20 competitors from across the globe will gather to compete in a series of rounds covering multiple styles of roasting.
