Meet the 2018 World Cup Tasters Champion: Jinwoo Yama Kim

Jinwoo “Yama” Kim is Australia’s first World Cup Tasters Champion. After achieving two national Cup Tasters titles back-to-back, Yama went into the World Cup Tasters Championship (WCTC) in Brazil in October with high expectations of himself.  He had began intensive training just two weeks before the Worlds, which he admits was much less preparation time compared to his last attempt at the 2017 world title, in which he placed sixth.

NZSCA to host New Zealand Cup Tasters Championship on Friday

New Zealand’s best coffee cuppers will test their palates, speed and accuracy when they compete in the 2018 New Zealand Cup Tasters Championship on 27 July.  Commencing at 5.30pm at L’affare Melrose, the event has attracted the largest field of entries to date, with 33 competitors set to take to the stage, representing companies in Auckland, Hamilton, North Shore, Nelson, Waikato, New Plymouth, Wellington, and Christchurch.

World Coffee Events makes 2018 competition rule changes

Gender-neutral language and competitor qualification explanations are some of the “minor” rules and regulation changes World Coffee Events (WCE) has released for the 2018 World Brewers Cup, World Cup Tasters and World Coffee Roasting Championships. Released on 14 June, WCE says the final changes for this year’s world competitions have been made to “keep them consistent with other competition documents”.
