Toby’s Estate has announced that Ever Meister, Managing Editor of Cafe Imports, will be the next Knowledge Talks speaker to tour Australia in March and April.

Meister will present on traceability within the specialty coffee industry – what it means, how it happens, why it matters, what’s so tough about it, and what the future looks like.

“I really want to step back and put into context what certain information means and how necessary it is to have and share, and how we can ask the right questions that really forms a partnership between the folks who are doing the work at the farm level and the export and the mill level,” Meister says.

“In my Knowledge Talks presentation, I also hope to take a philosophical approach to what traceability means, how we can be critical about it, and how we can do more good frankly as an industry with that kind of power and influence.”

For nearly 20 years, Meister has led a double life as a specialty coffee professional and a working journalist. Her work in coffee began as a barista, but she has also worked in café management, wholesale customer relations, coffee education, green coffee sales, and marketing and communications.

Meister studied journalism at Northeastern University and developed a passion for storytelling and human connection. She worked as a journalist at Time Out New York. She’s also contributed work for The Boston Globe, The Washington Post, Saveur.com, and authored New York City Coffee: A Caffeinated History in 2017.

In her role with Café Imports, Meister combines her skills for storytelling by writing and managing the company’s written content across its digital, print, and social channels.

This new series of Knowledge Talks will be held in Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne and Perth at the following dates and locations:

Brisbane: 27 March from 6pm to 8pm, at Lightspace, 2 Scanlan Street, Fortitude Valley
