Victoria Arduino’s Champions’ Hub to take place 8 to 9 May

The first edition of Victoria Arduino’s Champions’ Hub will take place in Italy at the Simonelli Group factory from 8 to 9 May.

The Champions’ Hub will consists of a two-day full immersion training focused on the next World Barista Championship (WBC). During that time, barista competitor can learn, practice, judge and work side-by-side with the researchers of its Coffee Science Hub to analysis elements of their performance. Competitors can use the scientific equipment in the Victoria Arduino Coffee Science Lab to help push their performance to the highest level.

The Champions’ Hub is a new way for national barista champions to gain access to relevant training information and research, and practice on WBC competition equipment ahead of the world event in Amsterdam in June.

During the morning of both days of the Champions’ Hub, gust speakers including Gwilym Davies, André Eiermann, and Ronny Billemon will offer competitors useful tips, suggestions and mistakes to avoid pitfalls during their routine.

There will be two sessions each afternoon. The first one is dedicated to “role playing”. Under the guide of a head judge, competitors will play both barista competitor and judge. Victoria Arduino says practicing both roles will help participants to understand the different points of view and the critical aspects of each role. This information will be useful in structuring the competition routine.

The second session is about “Private practice and coffee lab analysis”. Depending on requests, each competitor can practice with their own coffee and the official WBC machine. They can also make also some scientific analysis to collect useful information for their future performance.

In this session the barista can interact with researchers from the International Hub for Coffee Research and Innovation, and Victoria Arduino technical staff.

The program will then extend to multiple events at multiple locations to provide ease of access.
