The World AeroPress Championship (WAC) is now accepting host applications for its 2023 season, with a focus on building community, making friends, and celebrating coffee.
Hosts for the competition come in all shapes and sizes, from roasteries to coffee shops, and professional festival organisers to passionate groups of friends. To bring the WAC to your region, anyone can apply or encourage their favourite local coffee shop to do so.
The WAC exists to bring coffee-loving people together in an open, inclusive, and fun environment, celebrating the invention of the AeroPress, a plastic coffee brewer, which was created by retired Stanford University engineering instructor Alan Adler in 2005. Alan aimed to brew a superior cup of coffee through his study of the coffee brewing process.
“Wouldn’t it be fun to see who could brew the best cup of AeroPress coffee?” said the two coffee lovers who first came up with the idea for the competition in 2008. The first WAC took place in a small room in Oslo, with only three competitors and Tim Wendelboe as the judge.
The WAC ompetition was established in 2008 and has since grown into a global attraction, spanning more than 60 countries and 120 regional and national events, attracting more than 3000 competitors annually.
