Queensland-based Zarraffa’s Coffee is celebrating 30 years in business and 25 years since launching its franchising model, reflecting on the company’s transformation from a small roasting house into one of Australia’s leading specialty coffee retailers.

Founded on 25 March 1996 on the Gold Coast by Kenton and Rachel Campbell, the Australian-owned and operated brand has since surged to operate more than 85 stores across Queensland, New South Wales, Western Australia, South Australia, and Victoria, and has set its sights on reaching 200 stores by the 2032 Brisbane Olympics.

Since opening its first store in 1997 at Australia Fair, and its first drive-thru location in 2009 and Worongary, Zarraffa’s has evolved to become a leader in the convenience coffee space.

Co-Founder Kenton Campbell says reflecting on three decades of Zarraffa’s is a proud moment.

“Thirty years in business is a proud moment for everyone who has been a part of the Zarraffa’s journey,” he says.

“What started as a small roasting house serving coffee to customers who would sit on hessian bags of green beans, has evolved into a national brand where our philosophy has always remained the same – to deliver great coffee, genuine service and a consistent experience our customers can rely on.”

“Innovation has always been part of our DNA. Our drive thru concept changed the way many Australians access their daily coffee, but our focus has always been on delivering a premium product with the same care and consistency you would expect from walking into a café.”

Kenton also paid tribute to Zarraffa’s network of franchisees, which spans more than 100 people.

“Our franchise partners are the heartbeat of the brand,” he says.  “They’re passionate local business owners who bring Zarraffa’s to life in their communities every day. Their commitment to quality, service and customer connection is what makes the brand special.”

“As we celebrate this milestone, the message to our franchise partners and customers is simple – thank you for supporting us from the beginning. Every cup has played a part in shaping the brand’s journey and we thank you for making Zarraffa’s part of your daily ritual.

“This loyalty has allowed us to reach this incredible milestone and on behalf of Rachel, myself and the wider Zarraffa’s family, we couldn’t be more grateful.”

Zarraffa’s coffee is freshly air roasted on-site at its roastery based in Eagleby, Queensland.
