Due to unforeseen personal circumstances, Pat Russell of Sucafina New Zealand is unable to represent New Zealand at the World Cup Tasters Championship at the Specialty Coffee Expo from 12 to 14 April. He remains the 2023 New Zealand Cup Tasters Champion.
In his place, the New Zealand Specialty Coffee Association (NZSCA) has announced 2022 and 2023 runner-up Han Jong Lee of Meebz Coffee Roasters will represent New Zealand as the official substitute competitor.
According to the NZSCA, Pat is happy that Han will be able to represent in his place, noting that he was surprised to win against such a talented cupper.
Pat has now been awarded the national title in two countries. He last competed in the Cup Tasters Championship on the world stage representing Canada, alongside New Zealand Champion Stuart Hargie, in 2011.
