Axil Coffee Roasters Head of Innovation Jack Simpson is once again heading to the World Barista Championship in 2025, following a third consecutive win at the Australian Barista Championships.

To celebrate Jack’s success – and the previous Australian and World Barista Championship successes of Anthony Douglas and Co-Founder Dave Makin – Melbourne roaster Axil is inviting its wholesale customers to join their journey to Milan to watch Jack in action.

“Coffee runs through the Axil team’s veins,” says Dave. “Jack’s spot on the world stage is the result of the relentless focus we bring to quality, training, ethical sourcing, and innovation – not just in competition, but every day in our cafés and with our wholesale partners.”

From 4 to 31 August 2025, every order for Axil Coffee placed through supply wholesale platform Ordermentum will go into a draw to win a trip for one to Milan, including return economy airfare, six nights accommodation, and entry to Host Milano and the World Barista Championship from 17 to 21 October.

If travel is not possible, the winner will instead receive $5000 worth of Axil products.

The competition is sponsored by The Alternative Dairy Co., Riverina Fresh, and Brewtech.

“With 16 cafés across Melbourne and a fast-growing national wholesale network, Axil is deeply embedded in the café culture it serves,” the roaster says.

“They know that to make your mark on the hospitality industry, you need to serve coffee that keeps customers coming back for more – which is why Axil’s beans are the ones to serve.

“Axil’s beans are ethically and directly sourced, roasted locally, and supported by a full service team offering education, equipment support, and flavour-first expertise to help venues grow.”

The winner of the competition will be announced on 2 September 2025.
