The team at Barista Group are set to launch an Australian first with the release of the Plus X Espresso.
From the makers of the Übermilk, the new fully automatic espresso machine is completely hidden from the customers’ view and is located underneath the counter, with only a spout and two hoppers visible on the bench.
“It’s a fully automatic coffee machine like no other. At the touch of a button, it grinds, tamps, and extracts,” says Joe Chalhoub, Barista Group General Manager.
“Unlike standalone conventional fully automatic machines, which sit on top of the bench and obstruct the view, the Plus X Espresso is completely hidden from the customer’s eyes. The under-bench setup allows for a great view and the best aesthetic, fostering great customer engagement.”
Joe says the Plus X Espresso, which was developed in collaboration with Eversys, is capable of replicating espresso at the touch of button.
“It eliminates all variables involved in making espresso, allowing the barista to shift their focus elsewhere to the workflow. In addition, it empowers barista to focus on their cold coffee menus,” he says.
“The Plus X Espresso saves the barista about 11 seconds per cup in comparison to traditional espresso machines, which allows them to do something else such as connect with the customer. It’s ease of use, speed, consistency, and convenience are second to none.”
The Plus X Espresso is a separate unit to the Übermilk Plus, which Barista Group launched in Australia in 2024, but can be installed alongside the liquid dispenser and milk texturer to provide an almost fully automated workflow solution.
Barista Group is still testing the new machine but hopes to launch it in Australia in August 2025.
