A piece of Sesame Street has landed in Melbourne, with the world-first Cookie Monster-themed café now open at Melbourne Central.
Officially opened on Saturday, 15 November, the limited-time café is described as a “joyful tribute” to the Cookie Monster’s iconic love of cookies, with themed sweets and signature drinks including the Cookie Monster Milkshake, the Milk n’ Cookies shake, and the Blue Lychee Refresher.
The concept was realised with the creative guidance of Eddie Zammit, a lifelong Sesame Street devotee known for curating multiple Sesame Street initiatives.
“We’re excited to celebrate Cookie Monster’s timeless charm and the 55-year legacy Sesame Street has built with Australian audiences,” says Risa Greenbaum, Vice President of Global Licensing, Sesame Workshop.
Patrons can also purchase Cookie Monster-themed merchandise.
It’s the latest in a string of themed cafés to open in the shopping centre, with a pop-up Hello Kitty café now maintaining a permanent home there.
Cookie Monster Café is open daily from 9am – 6pm at Melbourne Central.
