Blackboard Coffee Roasters’ Danny Andrade has been named winner of the 2026 Australian Coffee Roasters Championship, finishing ahead of Stitch Coffee’s Peter Lam and Indie Hoop Roasters’ Ik Beom Kim.
Held at co-roasting space Criteria Coffee in Port Melbourne, six roasters took part in the two-day competition over 13 and 14 December.
Competitors were judged on categories including coffee evaluation, preparation, blending, and roasting skills in this three-stage event.
This year was Danny’s first Australian Roasting Championship win since 2016, but in the time between he has experienced success in other coffee competitions in Australia and the world, including placing third at the 2023 World Coffee in Good Spirits Championship in Taipei
Danny will now represent Australia at the World Coffee Roasting Championships in Belgium, with the competition to be hosted alongside the World Brewers Cup and World Coffee in Good Spirits Championship at World of Coffee Brussels in June 2026.
