Stomping Ground Brewing Company and Melbourne Airport will offer travellers a taste of Melbourne in a new pop-up activation.

Throughout the summer, Melbourne Airport will open the Stomping Ground Terminal 31⁄2′ (or ‘T31⁄2’).

The pop-up will feature a wide variety of beers from popular Collingwood brewery, alongside Victorian wines, ciders and locally-produced soft drinks.

Proud Mary will serve coffee, as well as some of Melbourne’s best food trucks on rotation.

“Melbourne is our home and we are very proud of everything that our city and state has to offer. Work often means that we have to travel and, during our many trips to the airport, we felt that introducing a pop-up to showcase what Melbourne has to offer would work really well, which is how this exciting collaboration came about,” says Steve Jeffares, Co-founder of Stomping Ground Brewing Co.

“Melbourne Airport have been incredible partners in this project and we hope that travellers will now have a fun, tasty and very Melbourne place to eat and drink as they pass through.”

The activation will be positioned outdoors for the convenience of the airport’s domestic travellers between Terminal 3 and Terminal 4. It will have a large screen where people can relax on deck chairs on a lawn area to watch major sporting fixtures like the Australian Tennis Open, the Ashes, Big Bash Cricket and Formula 1.

Melburnian cubby house creators, Castle & Cubby, will be providing a children’s cubby area made out of recycled materials so that children coming to the airport are occupied.

The pop-up will be open between 6am to 9pm (licensed 10am to 9pm) seven days a week.

Melbourne Airport Chief of Retail Andrew Gardiner expects Stomping Ground Terminal 31⁄2’ to be one of the most in-demand places to spend time before a flight.

“We are thrilled to collaborate with Stomping Ground Brewing Company to help bring the city to life at the airport for all of our visitors to enjoy over the festive season,” he says.

“When people think of Melbourne, they think of great restaurants and cafes, music, arts and culture and events, and this activation brings all of those elements together.

“On special occasions the brewery will even feature performances and temporary event activations, keeping guests on their toes.

Andrew says the great thing about this pop-up is that it appeals to all holidaymakers, from groups of friends to solo travellers and families.

“The whole idea is to create a welcoming space that leaves a lasting Melbourne impression,” he says.

Occasional appearances and activations from Victorian entertainers, sporting events and cultural groups are also planned for the space.
