Milklab will be hosting the Melbourne heat of the 2023 Barista Battle on Wednesday 5 July at Roasting Warehouse, Airport West at 6pm AEST.
The latte art smackdown will see competitors battle it out head-to-head to see who can pour the best coffee while making latte art. Participants will be using the Milklab range of plant-based barista milks during the event.
Winners in each stage of the knockout tournament are determined by Milklab’s expert panel of judges.
The Melbourne victor will also win a $500 MasterCard gift card, with second and third place receiving $200 and $100 gift cards respectfully. All 24 competitors will also receive a Milklab merchandise package.
Milklab says there will be food, drinks, spot prizes and giveaways throughout the night so no attendee will be leaving empty handed.
The winners from each state will proceed to the finals at the Melbourne International Coffee Expo (MICE) in August.
The winner of the Australian final at MICE will be invited to become a Milklab Master Barista and go on to compete in the international final.
All competitor ticket sales from the national heats will be donated to the Wise Barista program, which helps support the training of individuals who face barriers to employment to becoming baristas.
