Italian coffee processing equipment manufacturer Brambati S.p.A. has unveiled its new generation of electric roasters, with a focus on high performance and environmental sustainability.
The electric version of the Brambati roaster features a fully electrical heat generator, heated by electrical resistances, instead of mixing ambient and recycled roasting air with combustion gases derived from the oxidation of fossil-based fuels, such as natural gas.
The company notes that with the use of electricity, there’s no production of CO2/CO and NOx generated by the combustion of fossil-based fuels, resulting in less greenhouse gas and carbon footprint. The roaster also uses “practically zero energy” compared to gas roasters on standby mode.
“Gas roasters use afterburners or catalytic converters to reduce emissions. These parts can be replaced with compact electric heaters that take up less space and provide the same benefits. This allows the entire roaster to run without fossil fuels and be fully electric,” says the company.
The company highlights the roasters meet the same performance as gas-based roasters, as well as a lower thermal power generation, and is more compact, allowing the entire roaster to be “fossil fuel-free” and 100 per cent electrical-based.
“With electric heaters, you don’t need the safety equipment required for gas systems, because you’re not dealing with a potentially dangerous fuel like natural gas or LPG, which can cause fires, explosions, or asphyxiation.”
