Five new board members were elected at The New Zealand Specialty Coffee Association (NZSCA) 2025 AGM on 30 May at ToiToi, Hastings.

The NZSCA was formed in 2005 and is the national representative body for specialty coffee stakeholders in New Zealand. Its mission is to support and advance the coffee industry in New Zealand, and is governed by a board consisting 10 total members.

Previous board member President Carl Sara has returned to the fold following an absence that came after serving for five years on the board.

The full NZSCA executive team is:

  • President – Carl Sara
Immediate Past President – Megan Wyper from Acme Cupco, Wellington.
Vice-President – Richard Corney – from Flight Coffee has also sat on the board in previous years.
  • 2nd Vice President – Scott Pepler from Havana, Auckland. This is Scott’s third year on the board.
  • Treasurer: Alice Burton from John Burton Ltd, Auckland.
  • Wayne Burrows from Zephyr Coffee Roasters remains a Board member for the third year.
  • Sarah McMath from Meadow Fresh also remains on the Board for a third year

The NZSCA also welcomed four new board members:

  • Andrew Feldon from Mouthwater Coffee
  • Bonnie Lam from The Coffee Dojo
  • Leon Dumper from MILKLAB
  • Sean Ellis from Kaffelogic

Five members of the previous board have also departed their roles with the well wishes of the NZSCA, with former President Megan Wyper set to remain on the board as the Immediate Past President. Wyper has sat on the board for seven years, including two as President.:

  • Tom Handiside from La Marzocco, Auckland has stepped down following many years of service.
  • Former Treasurer Steve Jae has departed the board to move to Melbourne.
  • Havana Coffee Works, Wellington’s Sam Keall and Vanguard Specialty Coffee’s Jason Moore have stepped down from the board following two years of service.
