New Zealand’s Cooks Coffee Company is preparing to relocate its operations to the United Kingdom (UK) and Ireland, with the bulk of the brand’s café locations operating in the region.
Cooks has over 100 outlets spreads across nine international markets, many of which fall under the Esquires Coffee brand, the global rights (excluding Australia and New Zealand) of which were acquired by Cooks in 2013.
News of the continuation of the planned transition was announced in the company’s six-month results for the period ending 30 September 2025, where the company recorded a 111 per cent increase to its overall group net revenues.
“The Company is continuing its planned transition to relocate the business to the UK where the largest market in the business operates,” the report states.
“This will improve efficient working practices and focus the business on its growth strategy in the core markets of UK and Ireland. Share trading liquidity in the UK is still low, and transaction numbers are small but growing albeit from a small base.
“The key focus is on building the business so that the improved performance will drive interest from the investor community.”
Cooks is expecting to operate 108 Esquires outlets in the UK and Ireland by March 2026, with the brand’s first expansion into India expected to take place by the end of the current financial year.
