The New Zealand Specialty Coffee Association (NZSCA) has announced the locations for the 2025 Regional Barista Championships, with venues confirmed for Christchurch, Wellington, and Auckland.

The NZSCA will return to two venues from the 2024 Championships and make a change in Wellington.

The 2025 regional championships will take place at:

  • Christchurch/Ōtautahi: C4, 113 Fitzgerald Avenue on Sunday 30 March.
  • Wellington/Te Whanganui-a-Tara: L’affare Roastery, 102/104 Adelaide Road on Sunday 6 April.
  • Auckland/Tāmaki Makaurau: Havana HQ, Unit G, 69 Saint Georges Bay Road on Sunday 13 April.

Tickets purchased before 17 February will receive a complimentary pass to the Barista Champs Workshop Online: Interpretation and Expectations of the Scoresheet, held on 26 February from 6pm to 9pm.

The workshop, designed for judges, competitors, and coaches in the Aotearoa Barista Champs, will break down the scoring categories to prepare for the event.

The NZSCA is also calling for judges, volunteers, and sponsors. Interested parties can sign up or enquire about sponsorship opportunities for green coffee, grinders, barista tools, and packaging by reaching out to emma@nzsca.org

Additionally, the NZSCA is hosting an online Chat with the Champs event, which will feature Honoka Kawashima, the 2023 Barista Champion, and Max Cui, the Aotearoa Barista Champion 2024, along with their coach Logan Collinge. The event will be held on 11 December at 6.30pm.

To purchase tickets for the Regional Championships or Chat with the Champs, visit Eventbrite.
