The New Zealand Specialty Coffee Association (NZSCA) has decided to cancel the 2021 NZ Cup Tasters Championship and the 2021 Meadow Fresh NZ Latte Art Championship, which was originally postponed to the 3 and 5 December.

The association says it has written off the end of 2021, using it as a chance to regroup, refresh, and drink copious amounts of coffee without any guilt over the holiday season.

Instead, the NZSCA has released new dates for 2022.

The NZ Cup Tasters Championship 2022 is now set for 4 March at the L’affare in Melrose, with the Meadow Fresh NZ Latte Art Championship 2022 to be held on 6 March at the Sapphire Room in Ponsonby.

The Meadow Fresh NZ Barista Championship 2022 has also announced its new dates from the 20 to 21 August 2022, giving baristas more time to “devise a routine worthy of an ambassador to represent NZ on the World stage in 2023”.

The NZSCA says they will be contacting each Latte Art and Cup Tasters competitor individually to clarify what this means.

The NZSCA’s “Games and Sausages” event, which is its end-of-year get together designed for the coffee community, has also been postponed to 27 January 2022. While venues for Wellington, Nelson, and Christchurch have been found, the NZSCA says it is still seeking an Auckland venue for the event.

The association thanks all of its sponsors, hosts, and supporters who are 100 per cent behind the NZSCA.
