Far North Queensland coffee roastery Long Shot Coffee has opened a new café in Townsville, with the business launching its new location on the ground floor of one of the city’s busiest office buildings.
Founded by Ryan Toleman, who was raised in Melbourne and earned his Q Grader licence in 2013, the Long Shot roastery supplies its coffee to more than 40 businesses and operates its own espresso bar on-site.
Ryan says the decision to lease the 24 square-metre space in south Townsville follows increasing demand for a new café in the area.
“We asked people in the street ‘does Townsville need a new café?’ and the response was ‘please open one as fast as possible’,” says Ryan.
“We asked people what they really need from a café, and the response was for the staff to be cool and caring, and for the coffee to taste awesome.”
The Sentinel Property Group-owned River Quays building in which the café is located has recently completed a refresh of its external areas with assistance from a Townsville City Council grant, with landscaping and improved seating in a small courtyard for a café tenancy included in the work.
Long Shot Coffee was founded in 2023 in the Townsville industrial suburb of Garbutt.
