Queensland coffee chain Zarraffa’s Coffee has opened its first location in South Australia, following the announcement earlier this year that it had acquired Adelaide-based specialty coffee group First Things First Coffee.

Zarraffa’s Coffee operates more than 80 locations across its home market of Queensland, plus New South Wales, Western Australia, and now South Australia. It recently embarked on an aggressive strategic growth strategy which sees the company aim to expand to more than 200 national locations in the lead up to the 2032 Brisbane Olympics.

The new compact location in Munno Para, in Adelaide’s northern suburbs, will feature a drive-thru window and walk-up window, but no internal café setting. This style of store was introduced by the brand in 2023.

Zarraffa’s Coffee Founder and Managing Director, Kenton Campbell, says expansion into this new market is a defining moment in the company’s history.

“For us, South Australia has always been on the horizon and now we are proud to say we’re finally here, ready to fly our flag in Adelaide,” says Kenton.

“Earlier this year, we took a bold step with the acquisition to accelerate our expansion plans. The move not only reinforced our commitment to the Adelaide market, bit it created a meaningful bridge between Zarraffa’s heritage and the local coffee legacy that was built by the First Things First Coffee founders.

“Our ambition in South Australia still remains clear – to grow sustainably, authentically, and with great respect for local values and the vibrant coffee culture. Munno Para is our cornerstone…”

Bill and Claire Zavos, along with their sons Sam and Dillon, are franchisees of the site. The Zavos family already runs four Zarraffa’s stores in Queensland’s south-east.

“It’s incredibly special for us to steer the operations of Zarraffa’s Coffee’s first South Australian store, starting in Munno Para where we have strong community ties,” says Bill.

Zarraffa’s has also announced the opening of its first Victorian location in Packenham South, and has hailed the drive-thru site as “the first of its kind” in the state”.

All the brands coffee is roasted at its headquarters in Eagleby, Queensland.
