Espresso machine manufacturer Rancilio Group has published two videos for technicians demonstrating the coffee extraction technology within its professional coffee machine range.

Employing advanced 3D-animation techniques, the videos, which have been published on YouTube, showcase the brand’s single- and multi-boiler technology. A series of graphics reconstruct the internal mechanics of the coffee machines to demonstrate the extraction systems available. It also demonstrates the hydraulic circuits, simulating water flow, and its interaction with the ground coffee.

“Showing the operation of our technology while speaking about its advantages and effects on the final product dispensed into the cup allowed us to create different levels of information for the videos to reach a diverse audience,’ says Coffee Competence & Product Manager at Rancilio Group Carles González.

The first video presents the company’s Steady Brew (SB) system, which features in all its single-boiler machines including the Classe 5, Classe 20, and Invicta. It also demonstrates the pre-infusion and post-infusion systems of the Invicta, breaking them down into different stages.

In addition, it details T-Switch adjustments to show the potential user how to manually set different temperatures for each group.

‘These videos will become an integral part of our advanced training courses, both for internal personnel and authorised technicians in our network. But they are also designed for baristas and any worker in the sector that wants to find out more about the innovative value of our products,” says Carles.

The second video showcases the technological features of the multi-boiler coffee machines. After demonstrating the Advanced Steady Brew (ASB) multi-boiler hydraulic circuit, the video highlights the Xcelsius (XTP) and Advanced Temperature Profiling (ATP), as well as the differences between the two systems.

“The objective was to show how we transferred to our machines the results of scientific and sensory investigations on the effects of temperature profiling when preparing an espresso,” says Carles.

‘Comparing our technologies, we had fun drawing on language that is now very common across the Internet. We want to provide viewers with the clearest possible summary of both the innovative power of our research and the richness of our product range.”

Focusing on the pre-infusion and post-infusion stages, which are available on the RS1 multi-boiler machines, the video details the collaborative nature of the technologies.

Both videos end with a comparison of the systems used in the professional Rancilio and Rancilio Specialty coffee machines.
