Scott Rao, one of the world’s leading coffee roasting consultants, is coming to Australia to host masterclasses in January 2017.

First on Scott’s itinerary will be a roasting masterclass at Genovese Coffee in Melbourne on 5 January 2017.

The event will be Scott’s only Melbourne class so spaces are limited.

Scott will share his roasting insights gleaned from his work with 100s of roasting clients around the world, and discuss both simple changes to yield immediate improvements, and some not-to-simple changes most roasters can make to manage their roast curves better.

The event will take place at Genovese Coffee from 10am for two and a half to three hours. It will include a cupping, analysis of the cupping’s roast curves and a Q&A session.

The masterclass cost is $200. To book your Melbourne masterclass, click here.

Genovese Coffee is also offering a discount on its Specialty Coffee Association of Europe (SCAE) Certified Roasting, Sensory Skills, Green Coffee, Brewing, and Barista Skills courses to attendees.

Use the discount code “RAODISCOUNT50″ to receive $50 off Genovese’s foundation courses, and “RAODISCOUNT100” to receive $100 off its intermediate courses.  Discounts are also available for those who book on the day of the Masterclass.

After Melbourne, Scott will travel north to host Coffee Brewing and Roasting Classes at Mountain Top Coffee and the Nimbin Bush Theatre from 14 – 15 January 2017.

Several possible sessions are available. This includes individual roasting consultations, masterclasses on espresso preparation and filter brewing, roast profiles, and managing roasting machines for optimal consistency.

Scott will discuss espresso extraction theory, barista techniques to minimise channelling and optimise extraction levels, and manual and batch filter brewing. The class will include a demonstration, tasting, and a Q&A session.

The cost of the masterclasses range from $85 to $300.

Scott has published The Coffee Roaster’s Companion, The Professional Barista’s Handbook, Everything but Espresso, and Espresso Extraction: Measurement and Mastery.

For more information on the courses and to book, visit nimbinbushtheatre.com/events or contact Bernie at Mountain Top on 02 6689 0229.
