ALDI Australia’s range of Lazzio coffee, roasted by the supermarket chain’s partner Black Bag Roasters, has been crowned the Overall Champion of the Large Chain category at the 2025 Golden Bean Australasia Awards.

This year marks the second in a row – and sixth time in the past seven years – ALDI has been named winner of the category, in 2025 taking the title of best Large Chain-Store Espresso for its Luxe Reserve Guatemala.

Overall, the Lazzio range was awarded eight medals in the Large Chain-Store Espresso and Large Chain-Store Milk categories for 2025.

Buying Director at ALDI Australia Daniel Quinlan says the continued recognition of ALDI’s coffee range is a testament to the supermarket’s desire to bring quality goods to customers.

“This win is a proud reflection of the consistent quality and value ALDI delivers to customers across their grocery shop, including the perfect beans for the morning brew,” says Daniel.

“Roasted in Melbourne, our Lazzio coffee range brings a premium café experience at home. It’s clear Aussies appreciate great coffee at a great price – and we’re proud to deliver exactly that.”

The full ALDI Lazzio range includes Medium, Dark, Single Origin Brazil, Single Origin Colombia, and its Luxe Blend all in one-kilogram packages, alongside Medium Ground and Dark Ground in 500-gram packages.

The range will expand from 23 July 2025 with the introduction of the Lazzio Luxe Reserve Single Origin Guatemala and Ethiopia Beans (500 grams), which respectively won Gold in the Large Chain Espresso and Silver in the Large Chain Milk-Based categories.

ALDI says Black Bag Roasters produces 75 tonnes of coffee per week for the Lazzio range.

Lance Brown, Director of Sales at Black Bag Roasters, part of the Nomad Coffee Group, expressed his pride at the continued recognition of Black Bag’s products in the large chain consumer market.

“This is an amazing achievement to win this award for the sixth time. A huge thank you to ALDI for allowing us to do what we do best over our decade-long partnership,” he says.

“We truly believe ‘life’s way too short for bad coffee’, and we’re proud to create great-tasting coffee that Aussies can enjoy.”
