To Califia Farms, Valentine’s Day is all about secret admirers, spending time with loved ones, and indulging in sweet treats. The dairy alternative producer and cold brew maker says if people are keen to show someone they love them, they might want to consider a healthier alternative this year.

Califia Farms says numerous studies have proven that people who eat plant-based diets tend to have lower cholesterol and blood pressure, a reduced risk of cardiovascular disease and other illness, plus an overall higher life expectancy.

Plant milks contain no cholesterol, and many such as almond and oat milk have little or no saturated fat. They can also contain more calcium, less sugar, no IGF-1 hormones, less calories, and be easier to digest than dairy milk.

“All of the Califia Farms plant milks and cold brew coffees have low or no added sugar, including our Unsweetened Almond, Vanilla Almond, and Chocolate Coconut Almond Blend, which are all delicious and simple alternatives to traditional flavoured milk. They are also great to bake with and work well in all kinds of recipes which is perfect for Valentine’s Day,” says Virginia Pullman, Marketing Manager for Califia Farms Australia.

For people planning to make their loved one a special breakfast this Valentine’s Day, Califia Farms have developed a Chocolate Coconut Almond Frappe Smoothies Recipe for the occasion:

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups of pitted frozen cherries
  • 1 cup of ice
  • 1 frozen or fresh banana
  • 500 millilitres of Califia Farms Chocolate Coconut Almond Blend
  • 2-3 tablespoons of shredded coconut
  • sweetener (optional)

Method:

  1. In a high-speed blender combine all the ingredients together and blend until it forms a thick smoothie.
  2. Serve into two glasses and enjoy with a spoon and a straw.
