Australian private equity firm Liverpool Partners has acquired a major ownership stake in boutique coffee roaster Seven Miles. This investment expands Seven Miles’ portfolio while retaining its Australian ownership.

Liverpool Partners says it will continue to support Seven Miles growth through its local roasting strategy and two portfolio additions, including Delano Specialty Coffee and Abstract Coffee Roasters.

“Our speciality is supporting growing Australian businesses and helping them to flourish. We work hard to find not only great businesses, but partners like Seven Miles that share our belief that our businesses should not only deliver an investment grade return, but also have a positive impact on the world,” says Jonathan Lim, Managing Partner for Liverpool Partners.

“We were so impressed by Seven Miles’ passion, team, and expertise and look forward to working closely with them.”

This follows Seven Miles’ recent acquisition of coffee roaster Bills Beans in Orange, New South Wales. Together, this expands Seven Miles’ national footprint further across Sydney, Brisbane, and Canberra.

“I am so excited to announce this milestone for Seven Miles which provides us the opportunity to combine the best of our 50 years as a business, with the fresh perspective of a new partner,” says Jenny Willits, CEO of Seven Miles.

Liverpool Partners’ investment will also see Seven Miles become a sister business to the equipment and service provider Australian Beverage Corporation.

Seven Miles says this partnership will give the roaster access to best-in-class equipment, knowledge, technical and data services, alongside top talent in the coffee solutions category.

“For us, it is business as usual, our leadership team, purpose, and values remain the same, and we retain Andy Simpkin’s extensive knowledge as he stays on as shareholder and director,” says Jenny.

“For our customers, along with our new family members, Delano Specialty Coffee and Abstract Coffee Roasters, we will continue to deliver an exceptional coffee experience.”

Delano Specialty Coffee supplies coffee throughout the llawarra, in South Sydney and Southern New South Wales, since 2009. The Delano team are behind several smaller brands, including Abstract Coffee Roasters.

“The Seven Miles team is beyond delighted to officially welcome Liverpool Partners on our journey in the passionate pursuit of exceptional coffee, and we can’t wait for our next chapter,” says Jenny.
