Norman, a new café in South Yarra, Victoria, has opened its doors, just as Melburnians feel ready to flock back to their local café.

With an original plan to open in March 2020, the Norman team, led by owners Andrew Simmonds (The Wolf, Windsor), Paul Lange, and head chef Matt Boylan (formerly Head Chef Fourth Chapter) had to navigate new ways to launch their latest venture, to abide by the COVID restrictions in Victoria. Come 2021 and a new year, Norman’s doors are well and truly open, welcoming its local neighbourhood and friends from afar.

“We’ve been tested and challenged in 2020 however we’re just grateful to have our doors open and serving customers fresh and healthy food which is what we do best,” Paul says.

As you enter Norman South Yarra, you are not only greeted by a team member but also a two-level tranquil venue which can hold up to 100 guests. The café is sleek and sophisticated with brushed brass finishes, marble patterns, baby blue hues and greenery throughout to give it a homely vibe.

Norman’s newest addition since opening its doors (officially), is its outdoor seating which has partially taken over Cunningham Street, with six bench tables seating up to six guests each. The outdoor space allows for customers to enjoy the summer air all while enjoying a delicious feed.

When it comes to the food, the Norman South Yarra menu features a mix of classic café dishes with a twist as well as entirely new creations, giving cafe goers every reason to try something new. Highlights include all-Aussie breakfast dish Norman’s Vegemite avo and the zucchini and corn waffles.

Norman South Yarra is open seven days a week from 7am until 4pm Monday to Saturday and Sundays from 8am.
