Victorian dairy farm and producer Schulz Organic Dairy has relaunched its former Timboon Cheesery farmgate café as Schulz Organic Creamery & Cafe.
Located on site among the lush pastures of the Schulz Organic Dairy farm, the revamped Schulz Organic Creamery & Cafe has undergone a recent renovation and boasts a new menu led by former Bibelot, Vue de Monde, Fat Duck, and Dinner by Heston Blumenthal patissier chef, Hila Perry.
Visitors will find Melbourne’s Market Lane Coffee served alongside pastries and light lunches featuring products from the Schulz Organic Dairy range, as well as produce from the local Great Ocean Road and south-west Victorian region, including wines from Newton’s Ridge Winery and craft breweries Prickly Moses and Sow & Piglets.
Schulz Organic Dairy Founder Simon Schulz says that the relaunch of the café is a first step towards offering visitors a more in-depth, on-site experience of Schulz Organic Dairy’s ethos and practices.
“Schulz Organic Creamery & Cafe is the home of Schulz Organic Dairy,” says Simon. “It’s a true farm to table experience – our cows graze here, they’re milked here, we create our products on site, and we serve them in our café. Hila has brought a new level of expertise and finesse to our menu at the café, and we’re looking forward to expanding the Creamery & Cafe experience into farm tours and events in the future.”
Chef Hila Perry says that it’s been a refreshing change of pace to join the Schulz Organic Dairy team in Timboon, a two and a half hour drive from Melbourne. Hila has relocated with her family to the area, and is enjoying getting to know the local community and its producers.
“It’s a real treat to be working here in such a beautiful setting, and using such high-quality produce on the menu,” says Hila Perry. “My Israeli heritage and time spent working in Tel Aviv means I’m able to introduce a bit of a twist to the more traditional café fare, but there are also plenty of cafe classics as well as cheese platters and cheesecakes that can be enjoyed in the café, or in the beautiful gardens.”
Schulz Organic Creamery & Cafe is open seven days per week and is part of the 12 Apostles Food Artisans Gourmet Trail.
