Toby’s Estate Coffee Roasters has announced the release of a line of single-serve specialty coffee bags, providing people an easy and instant way to brew coffee.

“The goal of this product is to give people access to delicious single serve coffee that is super easy to make, without a need for any equipment so it can be made at any time in any place. All they need is a cup and hot water. We really see this product as valuable for people who like to travel or go on adventures,” says Gillian O’Brien, Marketing Manager of Toby’s Estate.

“We want to bring consumers delicious, convenient coffee that can be used regardless of where they are but we didn’t want to go down the path of single use pods. We came across Steeped Coffee and were really interested in their process, which is all about using the roaster’s own beans to produce high-quality, convenient, and delicious instant coffee.”

The coffee is freshly ground and nitro sealed in a bag to retain freshness. The bags are 100 per cent biodegradable and the outer pack is made using compostable and renewable materials.

“I think there will be greater movement away from single use pods and more focus on alternative, more sustainable ways to bring better tasting instant coffee to consumers,” Gillian says.

“Consumers are also looking for more convenient ways to make great coffee when their favourite café is not accessible and we believe this is the simplest way to make great coffee wherever you are, while at work, at home or on the go.”

The exploration-themed coffee bags come in two varieties. The Next Frontier features tasting notes of dark chocolate and toffee, and can be enjoyed black or with milk. Forbidden Planet is best black, with tasting notes of milk chocolate and strawberry.

“The quality and subtle flavour profile is nothing like the instant coffee that consumers are used to,” Gillian says.

“Our single serve coffee is for the modern explorer, the eco consumer, the appreciator of the finer things in life, the outdoor lover, the travel enthusiast. It’s also for the consumer who is after convenience but still wants great tasting specialty coffee. There is no need for equipment, no mess and no fuss. You don’t need to be a coffee expert to make this coffee which makes it more accessible.”

The coffee bags cost $25 for a box of 10 single serve bags. They are available online or at the Toby’s Estate flagship café in Chippendale, New South Wales, and select partners cafés.
