Veneziano Coffee Roasters opens its doors in ACT

Veneziano Coffee Roasters has opened the doors of its Australian Capital Territory (ACT) site to the public after operating in Canberra for 10 years.

Veneziano’s Canberra space is a “pseudo training studio cellar door” with beans and equipment for home. With grand plans to initially launch a full suite of barista training classes, Veneziano says it had to rethink the offering in order to comply with social distancing rules amidst the COVID-19 outbreak.

“Opening our doors now was important to us to show the Canberra market and our wholesale family that we’re still here and give them the confidence that we will be on the other side of COVID-19. We also know people are now, more than ever making coffee at home, and we have beans, equipment and advice to help them get their home set up established,” Veneziano Managing Director Craig Dickson says.

Once Veneziano can revert back to normal operations, the location will become a reflection of its training studios at Veneziano Coffee Richmond in Victoria. Training stations are decked out with equipment including La Marzocco Linea PBs, a Mythos One, Mythos 2 Gravimetric, EK43, or Mazzer Robur S grinder, and the latest tools and gadgets for barista to perfect their skills. All classes will be led by Veneziano ACT Trainer TJ Phillipson, under a curriculum developed by former World Barista Champion Pete Licata and Veneziano National Training and Development Manager Jade Jennings.

“Our training studios and courses are a core part of the Veneziano offering and what we believe sets us apart from the rest,” Craig says.

“Our wholesale network receives ongoing training and coaching from our team as part of their package and we have barista at home courses for the home user.”

Veneziano Coffee Canberra’s doors are open 8:30am to 2pm Monday to Friday. Its retail wall features a full range of coffee beans and micro lots, plus home brewing equipment.

The roaster is offering pick up, drive by, or same day delivery for orders placed before 1pm to customers in the ACT, Queanbeyan, Jerrabomberra, and Googong. Customers can order online at Hungry Hungry.

To celebrate the opening, Veneziano is offering 20 per cent off all purchases over one kilogram and 10 per cent off all brewing devices and accessories with the code MATESRATES.

Students can also call ahead for when training resumes. A 10 per cent discount on all training courses will be offered to anyone on the waiting list.
