A Guinness World Record for the most expensive cup of coffee on the planet has been set by Dubai’s Roasters Specialty Coffee House, with the brew selling for AED 2500 (AU$1035).

The Emirati coffee chain has four locations around Dubai and sold the record-breaking V60 brewed coffee at its Downtown Dubai flagship store.

Using Geisha beans from Panama’s famous Hacienda La Esmeralda estate, the coffee was served in an Edo Kiriko crystal glass alongside a range of Geisha-themed desserts.

“Roasters Specialty Coffee House is proud to announce its official recognition by Guinness World Records for serving the world’s most expensive cup of coffee,” a company LinkedIn post reads.

“This historic achievement was awarded for a cup brewed with the exceptional Panama Hacienda La Esmeralda, one of the rarest and most celebrated coffees globally.

“This record reflects Roasters’ ongoing commitment to excellence, innovation, and leadership in the world of specialty coffee – setting new benchmarks from Dubai to the international stage.”

Roasters’ new benchmark price for selling coffee is not the only world record set by the emerging United Arab Emirates coffee scene in recent weeks.

Fellow Dubai roaster Julith recently broke the record for the most expensive coffee bought at auction – incidentally also for a Panama Geisha produced by Hacienda La Esmeralda.

Julith Coffee purchased Lot GW-01 at the 2025 Best of Panama auction for more than US$600,000, meaning the 20-kilogram lot was valued at US$30,204 (AU$46,304) per kilogram.

The coffeehouse only opened its doors on 1 August 2025, just one week before it secured the record-breaking lot.

The total value of the Best of Panama 2025 auction finished at more than US$2.8 million, with Hacienda La Esmeralda selling the three highest priced lots.
