The New Zealand Specialty Coffee Association (NZSCA) has announced that the Meadow Fresh New Zealand Barista Championship 2019 will take place from 2 to 3 February.

The competition will be held at the Expressions Whirinaki Arts and Entertainment Centre in Upper Hutt, Wellington.

New Zealand’s best baristas will compete on stage in an effort to win the coveted Champion title and represent their country on the world stage at the 2019 World Barista Championship in Boston in April.

The 2018 New Zealand Barista Champion John Gordan went on to place sixth at the 2018 World Barista Championship.

The NZSCA has reminded baristas to start sourcing their beans, gathering their teams and familiarising themselves with the rules.

Spectator entry will be free with details on entry to be released closer to the event.
