If you think you have what it takes to become a Coffee Master, then apply for the 2018 edition of Coffee Masters – New York.

The competition will return to The New York Coffee Festival from 12 – 14 October at the Metropolitan Pavilion.

For the chance to compete and represent your country on the world stage, interested participants must apply to compete, create a coffee-based Signature Drink inspired by New York City and showcase it in a one-to-two-minute application video.

Applications will close on 31 August. To enter, click here.

Event organisers Allegra Events will judge the best videos and applicants from around the world, and select representatives to compete in the NY event.

Coffee Masters is a fast-paced, multi-disciplinary global barista tournament, which hosted the first Coffee Masters competition in 2015.

Allegra Event’s Coffee Masters competition will see 16 top US and international baristas from across the globe test their skills in six different challenges that emulate the busy working environment of a professional barista. These disciplines are designed to test a barista’s skill, timing and presentation as they compete head-to-head in each fast-paced battle.

The knockout format of Coffee Masters sees baristas demonstrate their skills in Cupping, Brewing, Latte Art, The Order Challenge, The Signature Drink and, in the event they make it through to the semi-finals, The Espresso Blend round. Baristas will be judged by a panel of world-class coffee specialists with the winner receiving US$5000 and the title of Coffee Master – New York.

In 2015, Sensory Lab’s Ben Morrow won the inaugural Coffee Masters – New York competition.

The New York Coffee Festival is New York’s flagship coffee event, celebrating the city’s burgeoning specialty coffee scene. The festival will feature live experiences from more than 70 coffee, food and equipment suppliers. Visitors will enjoy endless free coffee tastings, interactive workshops, demonstrations from world-class baristas, delicious street food, intoxicating coffee cocktails, live music, art, and much more.
